As most of you will know by now, I recently moved to Manchester to study here for 5 months. Moving to a different country obviously also meant finding an accommodation, which was quite difficult since I couldn’t just view any rooms as I was still living in the Netherlands while organizing everything for my time abroad. After doing a lot of searching online I eventually found the most perfect studio apartment right next to the University Campus where I study. And this is where I live now, a small studio that’s big enough for me, with my own little kitchen and bathroom. I feel so lucky to be living here, and I couldn’t be happier with my new little home. So I thought it would be nice to show you a bit of my room and how I made it feel more ‘homey’.

It was a bit of a challenge for me to make my studio feel more cozy, since I could’t bring much with me from home. I only brought two suitcases filled with clothes and toiletries, and the rest I had to buy new here. So in the first few weeks of living here my studio felt more like a hotel room, since there wasn’t much in it at all. But over the weeks of living here I purchased little bits here and there, and it’s really starting to come together now.

I do have to say that I didn’t want to spend loads of money on decorations for my studio, since I know that I’ll only live here temporarily, and I don’t know how much I can bring back to the Netherlands in a few months. But I still wanted to get a few things to make it feel a bit more cozy. So some really easy and quite cheap ways to do this is by displaying some beautiful prints. I got mine from Desenio, which is a Scandinavian web shop that is specialized in affordable stylish wall art. They do some amazing designs, and also offer frames that go perfectly with the prints.

Desenio were so kind to let me pick a few of their prints and frames (discount code can be found at the end of the blogpost), and I’m super excited to share my choices with you. First of all, I decided to go for two big prints for in my living room and put them in matching white frames. I have them standing in front of my windows and I personally love how it looks, and it’s a good solution for not damaging the walls of my studio apartment. I also have some fairy lights on the windowsill to make it a bit more cozy. I think this is another really cheap and easy way to make a room look a lot more homey.

Besides the two big prints I have in my living room area, I also decided to choose three smaller ones for in my bedroom. For these three prints I went with the rose gold frames, which are super pretty. I placed the frames right on top of my headboard. Again, I have a string fairy lights here as well so I don’t always have to turn on the extremely bright lights I have on the ceiling. I also bought a few extra pillows for on my bed, which is another tip to make a room instantly feel more cozy.

I love the fact that Desenio offers so many different options when it comes to prints. There will be something in their collection for everyone. I personally really like their minimalistic designs. They do a lot of great motivational quotes and typography, but also illustrations and photography. I kind of stuck with mostly black and white prints, and then two colorful ones to match the colors of my room.

I will leave the links to the exact prints here, so they will be easy to find for you:

Thanks so much lovely! I was quite lucky and found my accommodation pretty easily, but it’s not easy since you have to keep on calling/e-mailing to get any information. I would really recommend X1 Lettings, they have a lot of good flats in the UK, so definitely have a look at their website! xx
