Summer is coming to an end and fall is starting to creep up on us, which I’m very excited for by the way – who else is with me? The change of seasons for me always means switching up some of the beauty products in my routine, so I thought it would be fun to show you what I’ve been loving this summer. It has been a very hot summer in the Netherlands this year, so I’ve really minimized the products in my routine. I’ve been trying to keep things more on the light side, because of this warm weather, but also because I’ve been loving a more natural look lately. I feel like the natural look with super glowy skin has really become a thing lately, and I kind of love it.
Chance Chanel Eau Fraiche
Being a fragrance lover I felt like I had to include my favorite perfume of the moment. Chance Chanel Eau Fraiche has been my go to fragrance this summer, as it’s a super light and fresh scent. It’s one of the three variations of the Chance Chanel fragrances and it’s probably my favorite one. I normally don’t tend to go for these types of fresh and light perfumes, I typically go for the sweet and more heavy ones. I actually discovered it because it’s a favorite of one of my friends, and I loved the scent of it on her. In my opinion it’s a beautiful fragrance that’s perfect for the warmer weather. Surprisingly I don’t hear many people talk about this perfume, but I’m super happy I discovered it. Since I’m pretty bad at describing the scent itself – other than light and fresh – I will leave the notes of the fragrance:
Top notes: lemon, cedar
Middle notes: pink pepper, water hyacinth, jasmine
Base notes: teak wood, iris, amber, patchouli, vetiver, white musk
Urban Decay Naked Petite Heat Palette
I’ve recently bought this eyeshadow palette at Sephora while I was on my trip in Prague, and I’ve been loving it ever since. It has all the warm neutral shades that I need and the orange undertones make it perfect for the summer time. I’m pretty sure this palette will become one of my all time favorites, since I love warm neutrals for on the eyes. The palette consists of almost all matte shades, just one shimmery shade that can be used as a highlight. All the colors blend out super nicely and are very pigmented. I specifically love the two shades called ‘hot spell’ and ‘wild thing’.
Dior Lip Glow
I’ve talked about this one before on my blog and I still love it a lot. I especially have been loving the Dior lip glow in the summer time because it feels like a lip balm, but still gives some color. I really don’t like wearing heavy liquid lipsticks when it’s hot out, and I prefer the look of a glossy lip in summer anyways, so this is the perfect product for me. I have it in the color 010 ‘holo pink’, which looks like a bright pink but actually comes out very sheer. It basically gives the look of healthy moisturized lips with a tint of color.
MAC Strobe Cream
As I said before, I really like the look of glowy skin in the summer time, however I find this pretty difficult to achieve since I have combination skin. I tend to always wear foundations with a matte finish, since dewy ones just don’t last on me unfortunately. But I found the perfect solution to still create a dewy look using a matte foundation, by mixing in a bit of the MAC strobe cream. Strobe cream is a moisturizer that contains illuminating particles to make the skin look less dull and more dewy. This makes the foundation look a lot more natural and light, while not making me look like a disco ball haha.
MAC Fix +
This is actually an all year round favorite for me, but specifically in the summer time I use this product loads. For those who are not familiar with this product yet, it’s basically a hydrating spray that can be used to fix makeup and refresh the skin. So as you can imagine, it’s such a nice feeling to spray this on when it’s hot out. It also makes sure that my makeup last a bit longer throughout the day in the warm weather and makes sure everything melts together to give a more natural look.
