Hey there, it’s me

Hi lovelies, it feels so good to finally be writing a blogpost again. To be completely honest with you, I’ve been neglecting my blog for quite some time now and I feel like I need to give you guys a little update on why I did, and what has been happening in my life. This is going to be quite a personal blogpost, trying to explain why I haven’t been so active on here recently. And it hopefully is going to be the beginning of loads of more new content.

So let’s talk about where I’ve been recently and what I’ve done. I just came back from an amazing trip to Malta, and I finally got to see one of my best friends again, as she lives there temporarily at the moment. It was so good to see here, and I really tried spending this holiday having fun and relaxing. We spend a lot of time at the beach and had so much fun together, and I feel like it was exactly what I needed. I took it a bit more slow with my social media for a while, and it felt really good to not be spending my days on the internet. Even though I love my social media, I felt like recently I got way to caught up in it, forgetting that there’s also a ‘real’ life out there.

This is something that has been on my mind a lot recently. Even though I love social media and the amazing and positive sides it has, it also definitely has it negative sides. Being super active on social media makes very easy to compare yourself with others all the time. As some of you might know, I’m particularly active on Instagram, and Instagrammers have become such a thing recently. Standards for photos have become so incredibly high and keeping up with all of the trends is almost impossible. I’ve always tried to stick with myself and not really care about what others are doing on the platform, but being exposed to so much content on the platform daily will influence you if you want it or not. It’s a topic that has kept my mind very busy recently, and I’ve been thinking a lot about how I can balance my love for social media, blogging and photography while not forgetting to also live a bit more in the moment.

When it comes to my blog, I’ve particularly been struggling with having no ideas for what to write about. I felt a little bit uninspired recently to create content for my blog, mainly because I don’t really know what I want to do with it at this point. I personally love writing and creating blogposts, but at the same time I also feel like it’s not something people reach for very often. Most people want to consume content in the quickest way possible these days, and blogging is not a way to satisfy this need. I definitely still want to keep my blog, and my goal is to be a lot more active on it again. But I’m currently trying to figure out what exactly I want to do with my blog. I love writing about beauty and fashion, but I would also love to incorporate some more personal blogpost like this one in the future. If you have any suggestions on what you would like to see on my blog, I would absolutely love to know.

Another super important thing that has kept me extremely busy the past couple of weeks is the fact that I will be studying in the UK for five months, starting in September. I actually haven’t shared anything about this on my blog yet, so it’s about time I will fill you in a little. It has been a super long procedure to apply as an Erasmus student to study for one semester abroad. It took me a lot of time and effort and now I’m almost done with organizing everything before I leave in September. I’m super excited to be living in the UK for five months, but I’m also a bit nervous about it. I’ve never been away from the Netherlands for such a long time, and leaving everything behind me here is a scary thought. But I know that it will be totally worth it, and I can’t wait to see what this new experience will bring me.
