MY BIRTHDAY WEEKEND IN AMSTERDAM

Since a few weeks I can no longer call myself a teenager anymore. I recently turned 20 years old, which is quite an important milestone I think. Honestly, I still feel like a child most of the time haha. So calling myself an adult still feels strange to me. Birthdays always make me realize how fast time flies by. I still remember the day I turned 10 years old and I was so happy to finally have an age with two numbers. Well, here we are now, 10(!) years later.. Time is such a precious and valuable thing, and I think about it quite often. I have some sort of “fear” of becoming older, because there is still so much that I want to do in life, yet there’s so little time. Of course, I really hope to become an old lady one day, but I always feel a pressure to spend my time wisely and make the most of it, and birthdays keep reminding me of this. I guess that’s might also be the reason why I don’t like to celebrate my birthday very extensively. That’s why this year I decided to just do something that I personally really enjoy doing on my birthday, which is visiting Amsterdam. I just wanted to make sure to spend my birthday doing something fun, and that’s exactly what I did.

Amsterdam is one of my favorite cities in the Netherlands. I just love the vibes, the many cool shops, and the beautiful canals. There’s something about the city that just really attracts me and I really enjoy spending my days there every once in a while. So me and my mom decided to go there on my birthday and stay over for the night in a hotel. I personally always love having these little staycations in your own country because it’s a good way to get you out of your everyday life. It honestly felt like we had been away for a few days, when really it was just one night.

We spend our days strolling around Amsterdam, doing some shopping and having good food. We were so lucky with the weather, because the sun was finally out after a very long period of gloomy weather. So we did a lot of walking, especially because we had no idea where we were going and ended up having to look at Google Maps every 5 minutes haha. I’m still getting familiar with the city of Amsterdam, but it’s already getting a lot better.

In the evening, we had dinner at Cafe George, which is my favorite place to eat in Amsterdam. Their food is really good and I love the vibes there. It’s quite casual, so not really a restaurant. More a chill place to eat, which I personally really like. Of course, I had some pasta and wine, because that’s just my favorite. The place is also perfect to take some cute Instagram photos, which is also a plus.  If you’re interested in seeing more of my photos, you can follow me on Instagram here.

I also bought some new beauty products while I was there, so me and my mom had a little pamper night in the hotel room. We did some face masks, which were amazing. In short, just a really chill but fun evening.

I hope you enjoyed reading about what I’ve done for my birthday. I’ve also linked the outfit and new beauty products for you, so it makes it very easy to shop if you’re interested in any of them that are featured in my photos. I had a really lovely birthday in Amsterdam and I can’t wait to go there again soon.
